Design
Twin City Die Casting involvement in a project begins long before the purchase order is issued. Our engineers will aid in the design of your part to incorporate all the capabilities and advantages of a die casting. We will help incorporate appropriaate drafts and rounds, tolerances that are achievable as cast, along with parting lines that allow for close trimming. Our CAD software capabilities include Pro-E and Solioworks, along with the ability to import data in many other forms. We will be happy to schedule a design review with the customer to help decrease manufacturing costs and decrease time to market.
Our on staff metallurgist can recommend the right material for your product.
Technical Data
Prototypes
TCDC utilizes SIMTEC simulation software to perform simulation on metal flow, temperature/cooling, and stress/distortion. Simulations are performed on every new project as well as existing and prospective projects. We can also provide Die Cast Prototypes and Low Volume Production for smaller parts in approximately 3-4 weeks or sooner depending on part configuration, using mold bases that TCDC has dedicated to Die Cast Prototyping.
Project Management
Twin City Die Castings employees a world class system for project management utilizing the 5 person Project Launch Team who’s sole job is integrating new work in to all 3 plants. The Project Launch Team encompasses engineers in die-casting, machining, quality and subcontract, as well a project manager who tracks every step on Microsoft Project timelines and issue weekly detailed updates on progress. A whole alphabet of acronyms such as PPAP, APQP, PFEMA, CPK, DOE is the daily language of this group. Making parts faster, better, and less expensive is what makes this group tick. The only acceptable outcome when a customer issues a PO is a project delivered on time and to the agreed upon quality standards.
Tooling
Tooling at Twin City Die Castings is the perfect blend of science and art. Our in-house tooling engineer will aid in the design of cast and trim tooling along with machine fixtures. Years of experience along with the latest technology such SimTec flow simulation software. We utilize Pro-E and Solidworks CAD software along with Gibbs CAM software. We partner with a number of domestic tool shops to source our tooling, and we value the long relationships that has enabled us to produced five NADCA/IMA die cast award winners since 2000. We have partnered with shops that employee rapid tooling techniques which enable cast tools to be completed in as fast as 4 weeks.
